Tutorials for Lab

⚠Try to perform every experiment yourself in each lab, as you will have to conduct the experiment alone in the lab final. Prepare for the viva before each lab, as you might be questioned daily.

Instructions for Lab Final

In the lab final, students will be divided into two groups of 15.

  1. Group Allocation:
    • The first 15 students of the first half (or second half) will enter the lab first.
    • Once they finish, the next 15 students will enter.
    • Each group will have 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete their tasks.
  2. Experiment Selection:
    • Upon entering, there will be 15 shuffled exam papers on a table, flipped backward.
    • Each paper has an experiment name written in a corner.
    • Students will be called roll-wise to pick a paper, which determines their assigned experiment.
  3. Experiment Distribution:
    • There will be (or might be):
      • 4 Na₂CO₃ + HCl Titration
      • 4 KMnO₄ + H₂C₂O₄ Titration
      • 4 Na₂S₂O₃ + K₂Cr₂O₇ Iodometry
      • 3 Heat of Solution experiments
    • Experiment tables are arranged randomly to ensure no two adjacent students get the same experiment.
    • Solution concentrations in burettes differ even for the same experiment.
  4. Performing the Experiment:
    • First, write the Experiment Name and Data Table exactly as done in the rough sheets during lab classes.
    • Then, perform the experiment, complete the Data Table, do the calculations, and write the results.
  5. Viva:
    • After finishing the exam, students will be called for viva.
    • Viva is mostly related to the assigned experiment and focuses on deep theoretical understanding about the experiment.
